3 Easy Ways To Stop Your Baby From Falling Asleep During the Day

Some babies stay awake at night and sleep during the day. This can be really hard for you after a busy day. You may have got a hint about their sleeping pattern during your pregnancy. If your baby moved around a lot at night then the chances are they might be a night owl. However, there’s no need to worry as you can change their sleeping pattern in 3 easy steps.


  1. Set A Wake-Up Call For Your Baby
    Get your baby into the habit of waking up in the morning. You don’t have to wake them up at dawn but they should be up by breakfast time. You must wake your baby up even if they haven’t slept well at night. It might be tempting for you to let them sleep so that you can catch up on your lost sleep. But, this will not help you in the long run and you will only end up with more sleepless nights. Stick to the morning routine and eventually, you will notice that your baby’s sleeping pattern has changed, thus allowing you to sleep at night.

  2. Let Your Baby Know That It’s Daytime
    During the day, open your curtains and play some nice music to keep your baby awake. If you use lights out blackout blinds to stop light coming in to your baby’s room, take them off in the morning. Let sunshine pour in and set your house abuzz with normal household noise. Keep talking to them and indulge them in some interesting games so that they are stimulated.

  3. Wake Your Baby Up for Feeding
    You shouldn’t let your baby sleep for long periods in the day as this will culminate into a bad habit you will regret later. You can wake them up for feeding at regular intervals during the day. Slowly, you will notice that they will be awake every one or two hours without your help. But remember that they have to be fed even at night, but you can increase the interval time to three to four hours.

    Looking after a baby can be a daunting task but you can really enjoy it if you follow a few simple steps. Remember that you can teach good habits to your baby from a very early age; sleeping and waking up on time is one of the most important of them all!
